The Jatco JF015E is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) model produced since July 2009. Total transmission production has exceeded 10 million units. The Jatco JF015E is manufactured at JATCO plants in Japan, China, Mexico, and Thailand.

The transmission is installed in the following vehicle models:

Nissan (RE0F11A): Qashqai, Juke, March, Latio, Sylphy, Cube;

Suzuki: Swift, Splash, Wagon R;

Mitsubishi (CVT7): Mirage, Delica.

Common Faults

The most common faults of the JATCO JF015E transmission include:

  • Mechanical damage - mainly damage to the pulleys and transmission belt responsible for gear ratios. Damage to the pulleys in a CVT is a serious problem that can affect vehicle performance and driving smoothness. The pulleys, responsible for dynamic ratio adjustment, can suffer from various failures. Typical issues include the drive belt slipping off, leading to power loss and unstable driving, belt slippage, which affects transmission efficiency, and uneven pulley wear, which generates noise and vibration while driving. In addition, contamination and debris can contribute to damage to the valve body and other transmission components.
  • Valve body and solenoid damage - the most common problems with all Jatco CVT transmissions involve the flow control valve. The flow valve and its bore often wear out at low mileage. Solenoids also get damaged.
  • Fluid leaks, which can be caused by damaged gaskets or seals. They lead to a drop in the transmission fluid level, which can damage the transmission.
  • Electronic failures, such as damage to the transmission control unit (TCU) or sensors. They can be caused by electrical interference or mechanical damage.

Typical symptoms of JF015E transmission faults include:

  • Jerking during gear shifts
  • Inability to change gears
  • High engine RPM at low speed
  • Squeaking, knocking, or grinding noises

If any of these symptoms occur, visit a mechanic as soon as possible. Early detection and repair can prevent further transmission damage and extend its service life.

Here are a few tips that can help prevent JF015E transmission faults:

  • Change the transmission fluid regularly
  • Do not overload the transmission
  • Avoid aggressive driving maneuvers
  • Visit a mechanic if abnormal symptoms occur

Repair cost

The repair cost for the JF015E automatic transmission can vary significantly depending on the type of fault and extent of damage. Automatic transmissions are complex and precise systems, which can affect repair costs. The repair cost depends on the specific issue in the transmission. Simple repairs, such as replacing damaged sensors, can be less expensive than more complex repairs, such as replacing damaged clutch discs or bearings, or even a complete transmission rebuild.

In the event of a severe fault, replacing the entire transmission may be necessary, which can cost from several to more than ten thousand PLN. The ASB Długołęka workshop offers new JF015E transmissions.

To minimize the risk of a major failure and increase transmission durability, it is important to follow the manufacturer's recommended service schedule and use high-quality transmission fluid and filters.

User reviews

User reviews regarding the JATCO JF015E automatic transmission are mixed. Here are example reviews found online:

  1. "I purchased a car equipped with a Jatco JF015E transmission and I can safely say that I am satisfied with its operation. The transmission offers smooth gear changes, which translates into a comfortable drive. I have not experienced any major problems with its operation, and dynamic ratio adjustment makes driving more efficient. In my case, the transmission works fault-free and is also quite economical in terms of fuel consumption."

  2. "My experience with the Jatco JF015E transmission is mixed. On one hand, its smoothness and comfortable gear changes deserve praise. However, over time I noticed some delays, especially during sudden acceleration. This makes throttle response sometimes less immediate, which can be somewhat irritating. In addition, I heard from other users that older models may be more prone to failures, which raises some concerns about durability."

  3. "I have mixed feelings about the Jatco JF015E transmission. While in daily use it performs satisfactorily, I experienced a few instances where difficulties in gear shifts occurred. This problem intensified especially when driving in city conditions, when frequent speed changes were needed. Although this is a fairly sporadic issue, I think it is worth mentioning. Ultimately, this transmission requires diligent regular maintenance to keep its performance at an adequate level."
